tulum, mexico
beach hangs. waves crashing, trendy vibes. mezcal tasting, muchos tacos y guac, alluvthethings etc.
TULUM, MEXICO // think mezcal tasting, family style taco sharing, dancing the night away in a jungle disco or in the sand overlooking the azure waters, wearing something flashy, flirty, and fun.. and that sums up our “Nacho Average Bachelorette Party”.
STAY
There are a number of options via AirBnB when traveling with a large group like we did (10+). We chose to stay at a stylish jungle bungalow to “experience the authentic Tulum lifestyle”. There were not a lot of options within walking distance, but the open living space and pool area of this place were perfect for our group. The units were spacious, very comfortable, each with their own kitchenette, overlooking the Mayan jungle, and located approx. 20-30 minutes outside the main area of Tulum (which all made for the perfect backdrop).
GIFT INSPO
Think about items the ladies can actually use throughout the weekend. We provided everyone with matching swimsuits (from the bride and creator of CeaBikinis), matching shirts created from a favorite artist of the bride (Carolina Arrieta), Flash Tats, and a few other local goodies and lastly Underwood Wine in a Can.
GAMES + GROUP VIBES
Many times not everyone in the group knows eachother, OR they may not know everyone well. A fun way to get your lady babes to bond is by creating a series of games/teams for the weekend festivities. We chose to have each unit in our jungle bungalow grouped as a team (assigning them all fun names of course), with games incorporated into the first night + pool party one of the following days.
EAT&DRINK
COFFEE + BRUNCH + LUNCH
Raw Love. Rated as Tulum’s number one raw vegan cafe. Go for coffee, beautiful smoothie bowls, and breakfast bites (lucky for us they had the most amazing avocado toast on special!!). NOTE: This was a perfect spot to visit after morning group yoga at Ahau Tulum.
Matcha Mama if you’re craving açaí, cold brew, kombucha, smoothies or nice cream. NOTE: We recommend grabbing a quite bite/drink here and walking the streets of Tulum to do a little shopping.
Burrito Amor. Go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Whether you are craving veggie, vegan or meat filled burrito bites, make sure this is on your list of feeding options. NOTE: They have delicious coconut tortillas on request as well!
* This is a gem + 10/10 would recommend.
Tata Tulum. Go for breakfast or lunch and enjoy your meal beachfront with your feet in the sand. Order the street corn and grilled avocado tacos.
BEACH LOUNGE + DINNER + LATE NIGHT HANGS
Be Tulum. Go for breakfast and/or beach side hangs. This was a super fun day for alluv us to simply relax all day at the beach, lounge on their bean bags, listen to the waves crashing, and chick chat while enjoying a few margs + guac with your feet in the sand.
AZULIK Tulum is “an experience” including three different restaurants, an art gallery, spa, private beach club, and both beach and jungle villas. We stayed here our last night and the resort is absolutely beautiful, however, probably better for pictures in our opinion. NOTE: If you do stay here, the beach club was the perfect way to spend our last day relaxing.
Casa Malca is one of Pablo Escobar’s private estates, now turned art-filled sanctuary. We recommend stopping in for the photo opp, and a margarita at their bar.
Nomade Tulum go for beach side, sunset hangs OR check out La Popular for breakfast/afternoon tacos. NOTE: Nomade is within walking distance from Casa Malca mentioned above.
Heartwood is one of Tulum’s most famous restaurants. NOTE: They are open Wednesday - Sunday and we absolutely recommend making a reservation far in advance if you have a large group. Cash Only.
* Voted Top Restaurant of Tulum by Us, 10/10 would recommend
Posada Margherita. Beachfront Italian restaurant. If you have had a few too many tacos, and are looking to switch it up a bit, head over to Pasada Margarita for an authentic Italian meal (lunch or dinner) NOTE: Cash Only.
Casa Jaguar / Todos Santos: Go for dinner, mezcal tasting, and late night dancing under the stars. Note: Tuesday + Thursdays they are “open till late”.
Gitano. Go for dinner and mezcal tasting surrounded by palms, candle light, and sparkles from the jungle disco. Order alluvthethings family style for the table to share. NOTE: Their go-to night is Friday night if you are looking to party/dance after dinner. They also have live music Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday.

DO
Take some time to shop alluv the cute boutiques.
Yoga at Ahau Tulum overlooking the ocean. NOTE: Daily yoga classes start at 9am Monday - Sunday. Breakfast bites at Raw Love is the perfect after Yoga stop.
Cenotes: There are a number of Cenotes to visit and explore, and many can be quite touristy. We recommend checking out Cenotes Casa Tortuga Tulum. They are located approx 15 minutes outside the main strip. We also recommend going if you are looking for a guided tour to see multiple cenotes (they will take you through four), swimming through the caves, cliff diving, lots of laughing, and if you get there early enough (we recommend arriving around 8:30-8:45) you will have all four cenotes to yourself. NOTE: They open at 9am.
Tulum Ruins: We chose not to explore these parts mostly for lack of time, but we’ve heard from many they are fun if you are looking for a quick day trip and perhaps if the weather is a bit cloudy..
Plan a pool party!! Get ready for cannon ball jumping, mucho chick chatting, game playing, taco bar snacking, alluvthethings etc.
THINGS TO KNOW
Getting to Tulum: It takes approx. an hour and a half to get to Tulum from the Cancun airport. Once you are in Tulum we recommend walking or grabbing a taxi (they are everywhere).
Monies: Most places will accept card, however, we recommend stopping to get pesos ahead of time.
Don’t drink the water & be sure to pack bug spray.
WEAR // What to pack?
Many of us made it a point to only bring carry ons which isn’t too difficult when you will be living in your swimwear both day and night (or some version of linen). Our favorite swimwear to pack is from CeaBikini, and we added a few pieces for our day to day and evening wear from Lizard Lounge, Revolve, Lulus, Billabong, a couple pairs of Vintage Levis Shorts, Aritzia, Yo, and Outdoor Voices.
NOTE: No need to bring heals with you. You will most likely be walking the long sandy strip of Tulum or along the beach with your toes in the sand, and dining and dancing under the stars. T
P.S. A few other useful sites if you’re planning a bachelorette party for a large group like we did:
Union Wine: Canned Wine (sparkling, rosé, red, and white). Also great for a welcome beverage: large ice cubes filled with a fun juice of sorts, topped with their sparkling wine.
Stag & Hen: Decorations
Flash Tattoos: Always fun for a pool party
Gracias, Bye.
