STAY
There are a number of options via AirBnB when traveling with a large group (like we did). We chose to stay in our own Hut’s at the Luxury Haven in Bingin (pictured above). The home offered transportation service from the airport, the location was perfect for scooting around Ulu, we had a salt water pool for our early morning and late night swims, open air showers, a daily cleaning service, and they made us breakfast each morning offering fresh fruit, banana pancakes, watermelon smoothies, and more. They even had someone on site for us to help with any additional questions we had.

EAT&DRINK
COFFEE + BRUNCH + LUNCH
Drifter Cafe: Healthy, Cafe, Fusion. Go for coffee, fresh morning juice, smoothie bowls, the avocado smash, breakfast burrito, tofu scramble, and so much more (like lunch and/or dinner). This was our favorite cafe during our visit and quickly became morning regulars. NOTE: if you are looking to bring back any goodies for friends and family back home, they have a great store front to snag a custom surf board, new Tshirt, swimsuit, hats, jewelry, art work, etc. P.S. they have another shop, located in Canguu as well.
Bukit Cafe. Cafe, Australian, Vegetarian/Vegan friendly. This is the perfect stop for post surf/day lounge bites. Order the watermelon + mint juice, a coffee, avocado smash, curry, zucchini + pesto noodles, alluvthethings, etc.
Nalu Bowls Bukit. Go for an acai bowl post surf.
Suka Espresso. Cafe, European, Australian. Go for coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner. This was a favorite morning bite stop for us either on our way back from yoga, or pre/post surf (the restaurant is located at the main entry point for Thomas Beach).
DINNER
La Baracca. Italian, Pizza, Mediterranean. Go for dinner and be sure to sit in the outdoor patio space surrounded by tall banana leaf plants, and other tropics, candle lights, and beautiful ambiance. Order alluvthethings family style to try a taste of each of the amazing pizzas, pastas, and more. Note that there is often times a long wait to get in, but we can promise you the food, wine and experience will be well worth your wait.
* 10/10 would recommend, this was an evening group favorite stop in Uluwatu
The Mango Tree Cafe. Authentic Mexican. Go for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. NOTE: They have live music starting at 7pm Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays.
TOOK NOTE FOR NEXT TIME: Sake no Hana, OMNIA,
SUNSETS + LATE NIGHT HANGS
Single Fin. Bar, Pizza, European. Go for sunset and stay for live music/dance. Expect Single Fin to be at the height of it’s fun on Sunday or Wednesday nights.
El Kabron. Spanish Restaurant and Cliffside Club. Go for sunset and stay for the paella.
Sundays Beach Club: Go for sunset and sit around a bonfire in beanbags on the beach while listening to fun music and the waves crashing. Expect low key/chill vibes, a beautiful location, and a cable car that will transport you from the clifftop down to the sand. NOTE: if you go during they day, Sunday’s also offers water sports equipment (snorkel gear, stand up paddle boarding, kayak, etc.) and the option for s’more’s as they begin to light the bonfires in the evening. We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to enjoy this magical spot $$$
Ulu Cliffhouse. Peruvian, International, Bar. Go for sunset and Friday night hangs. “Not a restaurant, a hotel, or a bar and more than just the traditional beach club” - Ulu Cliffhouse. Expect beautiful sunset views on the cliffs of Uluwatu overlooking the surf.
TOOK NOTE FOR NEXT TIME: Sunset Point Uluwatu, Kubu Beach Club at Ayana
DO
Surf at Thomas Beach (for beginners to advanced) or Dreamland Beach (advanced surfers).
Thomas Beach: located between Padang Padang and Uluwatu, Thomas Beach is a great location for someone looking to sunbathe, surf, or relax with a book and fresh coconut (or bintang). If you’re looking to surf you will find a number of people offering board rentals and lessons if you wish. We ended up renting boards from Jecky who was an absolute pleasure to work with. NOTE: if you keep walking towards the rock at the far end, you’ll make your way to padang padang beach, this was hands down one of our fav beaches for all things surf and day hangs.
Dreamland Beach: Quite possibly some of the *best people watching I’ve ever experienced and a group favorite for watching sunset perched up on the cliff each evening. Dreamland was another great surf break for those who were more advanced.
Morning Light Yoga Studio, located at the Uluwatu Surf Villas. Beautiful outdoor location looking out over the ocean. They even offer fresh coconut water after the yoga class. NOTE: Class starts every morning at 7:30a.
Sannyas Yoga Academy. Another beautiful outdoor space to deepen your yoga practice.
WEAR // What to pack?
We all made it a point to only bring carry ons which isn’t too difficult when you will be living in your swimwear both day and night. Our favorite swimwear to pack is from CeaBikini, and we added a few pieces for our day to day and evening wear from Lizard Lounge, a couple pairs of Vintage Levis Shorts, Aritzia, Yo, Outdoor Voices, and L Slides.
