Surf, Low Key Beach Vibes, Mezcal y Muchos Tacos

TODOS SANTOS, MEXICO: the town of ‘All Saints’ seems to be an up and coming gem located along the Baja Coastline. Think cobblestone streets, beautiful doorways lined with bougainvilleas, chic boutiques, long coastlines for beginners to advanced surfers, local fisherman and some of the best $1 fish tacos you’ve ever had.
STAY
Finding the perfect spot was a little tricky in Todos Santos (TS). There are only a few hotel options we recommend including Hotel San Cristobal, PachaMama, Cerritos Beach Inn, or Hotel Casa Tota. We chose to stay at Casa Tota for the first half of our stay, which was fantastic. The location was ideal to explore the town of TS, the staff was extremely kind and helpful, the rooms were simple and clean, and the food was all super fresh & delicious. Oh, and did we mention there is a shared pool in the middle of the hotel, as well as an amazing roof top situation for catching the sunset!!
The last couple days of our trip we ended up staying at one of the most amazing villas located within a short walk back to downtown TS. That being said, the house itself was so ideal for our group, we ended up throwing a pool party, arranging for a chef to come to the house and didn’t end up leaving other than to go surf during the day.
NOTE: Lo siento for not sharing the link to this special find. Please reach out to me privately if you wish to learn more.
do
Although TS does not have much of a night life, there have been a number of festivals making their way into town (i.e. 10 days of music experience, beer fest, jazz fest, etc.). Even though the nights can be a bit sleepy otherwise, there is plenty to do/explore during the day…
Explore downtown Todos Santos. You will find a mix of cobblestone streets, beautiful doorways lined with bougainvilleas, chic boutiques, and more tacos stops than one should know what to do with.
SURF at CERRITOS BEACH: Surf at Cerritos with one of the local instructors. No need to bring much more than a towel and your sunscreen. There are plenty of boards readily available to rent ($15-25 per person/day) and a number of people offering surf lessons and umbrellas/shade ($10+/day). NOTE: If you don’t feel like going surfing, there are plenty of people offering beach massages if you wish *10/10 would recommend.
Post surf we recommend walking to Barracuda Cantina or Cerritos Beach Inn for a beer/cocktail and ceviche.
SHOP: The Blanket Factory, is a family owned business located approx. 5-10 minutes drive south of Todos Santos (just past Cerritos Beach) and is a highly recommend stop if you are looking to bring home an authentically Mexico, stylish gift and/or new addition to your home.
TOOK NOTE FOR NEXT TIME: Morning yoga at Pachamama or Hotel San Cristobal, horseback riding adventures, cooking classes, and mezcal tasting at El Refugio, and a spa day at El Faro Beach Club...
EAT&DRINK
COFFEE + TACOS + CEVICHE
La Santena, located at Hotel Casa Toda serves coffee, fresh fruit and breakfast bites first thing in the a.m. as well as lunch and dinner options. Be sure to order the veggie breakfast burrito and fresh fruit if you stop in for breakfast. NOTE: If you’re staying at the hotel, dine and/or imbibe up on the rooftop.
One of our favorite finds was driving back from a day of surf at Cerritos beach, and we pulled over for family style rounds of $1 fish tacos, ceviche, and tostados.
know before you go
Getting to Todos Santos: TS is located about an hour outside of Cabo San Lucas. We highly recommend renting a car to travel out to Todos Santos and for day-to-day activities. We also recommend making a pit stop at Flora Farms for a bite before you end up making the drive out.
Monies: We recommend stopping to get pesos ahead of time, however, many places will happily accept US dollars.
Don’t drink the water & be sure to pack bug spray.
WEAR // What to pack?
Many of us made it a point to only bring carry ons which isn’t too difficult when you will be living in your swimwear both day and night (or some version of linen). Our favorite swimwear to pack is from CeaBikini, and we added a few pieces for our day to day and evening wear from Lizard Lounge, Revolve, Lulus, Billabong, a couple pairs of Vintage Levis Shorts, and Aritzia.
NOTE: No need to bring heals with you. You will most likely be walking the cobble stone streets of TS in your flip flops or walking the beaches barefoot, with your toes in the sand.
Gracias, Bye.
